Free-agent defensive tackle Tank Johnson and the Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a two-year contract, reports Adam Schefter of NFL Network. The deal is said to include various incentives that could push the maximum value of the deal to $1.5 million.

The Cowboys were rumored to be interested in Johnson immediatley following his release from the Chicago Bears June 25.

Johnson is currently serving an eight-game suspension for violating probation on a gun charge. According to the team website, Johnson will not be eligible to play until Nov. 11, when the Cowboys face the New York Giants.

Harrison suspended four games

September 1, 2007 Eric Zimmett Leave a comment

ESPN has reported that Patriots safety Rodney Harrison has been suspended four games for violating the league’s policy on anabolic steroids and related substances.

“I want to make it clear,” Harrison said “that never once did I take steroids. I did admit to the commissioner that I took a banned substance.”

Hey, Rodney, that’s covered under the confusing principle of violating the league’s policy on anabolic steriods and RELATED SUBSTANCES.

Harrison also offered some sort of an apology/excuse, in which he said he only used the banned substance to “accelerate the healing process” of an injury and that he never used the substance to gain a competetive edge.

“My purpose was never to gain a competitive edge,” Harrison was quoted on Profootballtalk. “Rather, my use was solely for accelerating the healing process of injuries I sustained while playing football.”

Alright, Rodney, listen up: if the substance is banned, and you’re using it, that’s a competitive edge. And it’s against league policy. Have a seat.
