Penn State Looking to Dominate Big 10

With QB Deryll Clark in the pocket, it’s easy to see why Penn State should dominate the Big Ten Conference. A triple threat, Clark has the arm, the running ability, and the strength to take Penn State to another Big Ten Championship Title. Although Penn State may have lost their big receivers (Derrick Williams, Deon Butler, and Jordan Norwood), they are getting back LB Sean Lee.

Last year Penn State proved they could play their two major rivals Ohio State and University of Michigan. This year they will have the opportunity to play Ohio in Happy Valley. The White House of Beaver Stadium will prove a major factor in this game, as the Penn State united fans seem to control when a QB hears the snap count.

Although the Big Ten has some easy non-conference schedule, Penn State’s opponents include: Akron, Temple, Eastern Illinois, and Syracuse. TheĀ  schedule for University of Michigan includes: Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Notre Dame and Delaware State. Ohio State has a little harder schedule only because USC is involved.

Although much hype surrounded Ohio QB Terrelle Pryor, the young starter threw for 12 touchdowns with 4 interceptions and 21 sacks. Behind QB “Juice” Williams, Illinois was number one in the Big Ten for passing yards in the 2008 season.

Another great QB in the Big Ten Isiah “Juice” Williams, is a great throwing QB with the ability to run and break tackles. This will make Illinois a great threat in the Big 10.

Although the strength of a team does not solely rely on the QB, the QBs of the Big 10 are forces to be reckoned with. However, the precision and speed of QB Deryll Clark combined with a great defense and RB Stephfon Green keeps Penn State on the top of the Big 10 list.

  1. I would wory about Pryor and Ohio State, He had the best pass rating in the big 10 last season, http://thematadorsports.com/blog/?p=839

He is only getting better. PSU will be strong, but will fall short.

  2. You’re right about the passing rating, but Pryor was the one who fell short to PSU last season.

OSU will be tough and Penn State should worry about them. I guess we’ll have to wait and see when the season starts in a few weeks.
